Awkwafina

American musician and actor Awkwafina began her career with hilarious rap tracks that tackled racial identity and sexuality with an incisive and humorous perspective, before increasing her presence in Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her first musical experience. She played the trumpet. Alongside classical music and jazz, she started studying hip-hop when she was in her teens. At college, she was studying journalism and women's studies. Then, she even had some time learning Mandarin at the University of Beijing. She turned her attention towards music after she completed her degree. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. The other viral hit songs included queef, a body positive track and the eye-catching NYC Bitchecity tour. The third track was linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide published in 2015, which was a different initiative. Her resume included both the musician and author. The singer was seeking to expand her career into acting. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors to Storks. Her breakout role was in Dude Ocean's 8 along with Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
